WHAT would life be if we had no

courage to attempt anything?

- vincent van gogh

A place to talk about art, technique, meaning, and symbolism, along with all of the good, bad, and ugly stuff in between.

the blog

community, education, acceptance.

If one person is able to feel heard in a scene I've made, that is enough.

Ellie Chavez is a photographer who mixes surrealism, portraiture, nature, and other elements of the universe together in every photograph. Her work visually portrays the story of fairytales, usually showcasing flowing hair, fabrics, and bright, eye-catching colors that hold meaning. Under the surface of every photo are heavy, and usually very personal, emotions and subjects. Some works may be more ambiguous than others, but none without meaning. Practicing this style of art for more than 10 years has taught her that courage is a well that can be infinitely tapped, risk is always worth the reward, and to always choose fight over flight.
